Colonial Inn Museum
126 Market Street, Mudgee
The Mudgee Historical Society was founded in 1964, with rooms in the part of the former Post Office Hotel on the south-eastern corner of Market and Perry Streets, Mudgee. In 1966 the former West End Hotel premises in Mudgee West were acquired as the Museum headquarters and as the site for a museum. Since then the site has been expanded and additional buildings have been constructed and re-located to the site to house the Society’s extensive collection of Australiana, all locally sourced.
The management committee of the Mudgee Historical Society Inc meets at the Museum on the third Monday of each month, with the exception of December (at 7.30pm, and at 8.00pm in summertime). Working bees are held at the Museum each Tuesday morning from 9.00am. New members are most welcome. The Annual General Meeting is held in August, when annual membership fees are due. Individual membership is $10 and a family membership is $20; a quarterly bulletin, The Muse, is dispatched to all members.
